January 20, 2016 (Wednesday)

DEADLINE by noon, for all candidate committees, legislative caucus meetings, and political action committees to file annual campaign finance reports for 2015


January 26, 2016 (Tuesday)

DEADLINE by noon, for a major political party candidate for President to file a petition of nomination with a county voter registration office for verification of petition signatures.


February 2, 2016 (Tuesday)

DEADLINE by noon, for a major political party candidate for US Senate or Governor to file a petition of nomination with a county voter registration office for verification of petition signatures.


February 5, 2016 (Friday)

DEADLINE by noon, Indianapolis time, for major party candidate for President, US Senate or Governor to file a declaration of candidacy and petition for placement on the primary election ballot with the secretary of state following certifications of petition signatures by county voter registration offices.

DEADLINE by noon, to file a declaration of candidacy for major political party primary nomination (or election as a Republican Party precinct committeeman, or state convention delegate of either major party at the primary) may be filed.


February 8, 2016 (Monday)

DEADLINE by noon, to file a withdrawal of candidacy for the primary election.


March 1, 2016 (Tuesday)

DEADLINE by noon, for regular party committees to file 2015 annual campaign finance reports.


March 19, 2016 (Saturday)

DEADLINE for the county election board to mail primary election absentee ballots to voters who have previously filed an application with circuit court clerk.


April 4, 2016 (Monday) Voter Registration Ends

DEADLINE at voter registration office's close of business for a voter to register or transfer registration or at midnight for a voter to complete and submit a voter registration application online.


April 5, 2016 (Tuesday) Early Voting Begins

First day a voter may vote an absentee ballot in the office of the circuit court clerk or satellite office.

April 8, 2016 (Friday)

End of pre-primary campaign finance reporting period.


April 14, 2016 (Thursday)

First day a confined voter, a voter caring for a confined person at a private residence, or a voter with disabilities may vote an absentee ballot before an absentee voter board at the voter's residence or place of confinement.


April 15, 2016 (Friday)

DEADLINE by noon, for filling pre-primary campaign finance reports for primary candidates.


April 23, 2016 (Saturday)

Office of the circuit court clerk must be open for a least 7 hours for in-person absentee voting. However, a county election board may adopt a resolution to reduce the days or hours for in-person absentee voting. However, in a county with a population of less than 20,000 the county election board may reduce hours to a minimum of 4 on this date.


April 25, 2016 (Monday):

DEADLINE by 11:59 pm, for the circuit court clerk to receive an absentee ballot application from an applicant requesting delivery of an absentee ballot by mail. Applications may be submitted to the circuit court clerk in person or by mail, fax or email.


Early Voting Satellite Locations Available April 26, 2016 (Tuesday) - April 30, 2016 (Sunday):

The Satellite locations will remain the same:  Aboite, Dupont, Georgetown, and Hessen Cassel.

 

Tuesday, April 26 and Thursday, April 28 – 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Wednesday, April 27 and Friday, April 29 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Saturday, April 30 – 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

 

The Rousseau Centre voting will also be open until 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM on the same nights the satellites are open.


April 30, 2016 (Saturday)

Office of the circuit court clerk must be open for a least 7 hours for in-person absentee voting. However, a county election board may adopt a resolution to reduce the days or hours for in-person absentee voting. However, in a county with a poplulation of less than 20,000 the county election board may reduce hours to a minimum of 4 on this date.



May 2, 2016 (Monday) Early Voting Ends

Early Voting Hours -> 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

DEADLINE, by noon, for a voter to vote an absentee ballot in person at the office of the circuit court clerk or satellite office

DEADLINE, by noon, for circuit court clerks to receive absentee ballot application from confined voters or voters caring for a confined person requesting delivery of a ballot by an absentee voter board.

DEADLINE, by noon, for a circuit court clerk to receive absentee ballot applications from military/overseas voters requesting to vote by email or fax.

DEADLINE for a confined voter, a voter caring for a confined person, or a voter with disabilities to vote an absentee ballot before an absentee voter board at the voter's place of confinement.


May 3, 2015 (Tuesday) Primary Election Day

Polling Location Hours -> 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, prevailing local time.


May 17, 2016 (Tuesday) Voter Registration Opens

First day the circuit court may receive absentee ballot applications from most voters for the municipal election.


June 30, 2016 (Thursday)

DEADLINE, by noon, for the Democratic or Republican Party to select a candidate to fill a vacancy on the municipal election ballot due to vacancy resulting from no candidate being nominated at a primary.

DEADLINE, by noon, for an independent or minor party candidate to file a petition of nomination with a county voter registration office for verification of petition signatures.

DEADLINE, by noon, for the Libertarian Party to conduct a convention to nominate candidates or to take action to fill a ballot vacancy following a convention.


July 5, 2016 (Tuesday)

DEADLINE, by noon, for Democratic or Republican Party to file a certificate of selection stating that a vacancy on the municipal election ballot resulting from a vacancy on the primary election ballot has been filed. 

DEADLINE, by noon, to file a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate at the general election.

DEADLINE, by noon, for the Libertarian Party to certify candidates nominated at convention or to certify a candidate selected to fill a vacancy following convention.


July 15, 2016 (Friday)

DEADLINE, by noon, for any candidate to voluntarily withdraw from the general election ballot.

DEADLINE, by noon, for the Democratic, Libertarian and Republican Parties to file a certificate of nomination of candidates nominated at the state party conventions.

DEADLINE, by noon, for independent or minor party candidate to file consent of candidates and petition of nomination after verification of petition signatures (see related entry for June 3, 2016).


July 27, 2016 (Wednesday)

First day to file a petition and consent for a school board member elected at the general election.


August 26, 2016 (Friday)

DEADLINE, by noon, to file a petition and consent for a school board member elected at the general election .


September 24, 2016 (Saturday)

DEADLINE for county election board to mail absentee ballots to voters who have already filed an application with circuit court clerk.


October 11, 2016 (Tuesday) Voter Registration Ends

DEADLINE at voter registration office's close of business for a voter to register or transfer registration, or at midnight for a voter to complete and submit a voter registration application online at indianavoters.in.gov.

All new registrations or changes to existing registration must in the Allen County Voter Registration Office or the Indiana Secretary of State's Office by 5:00 p.m. October 11, 2016. Or if you have an IN Driver's License or ID, you may submit your registration or change of registration online until 11:59 p.m. October 11, 2016.


October 12, 2016 (Wednesday) Early Voting Begins

First day a voter may vote an absentee ballot in the office of the circuit court clerk or satellite office.

October 20, 2016 (Thursday)

  • Federal Voter Registration Application (no receipt necessary): See Application (English) or Application (Spanish) and mail it to the Election Division, Office of the Secretary of State, 302 W. Washington St., Room E-204, Indianapolis, IN 46204-2743.  Be sure to follow the directions under Indiana, page 8 of the document.
  • Indiana County Voter Registration form (receipt mandatory): See VRG-11 or Spanish Language version VRG-11 (en Espanol). Print out the Voter Registration form, complete, sign and return to the Allen Co. Voter Registration Office, Rousseau Centre, Suite 176, One East Main Street, Fort Wayne IN 46802. You may also print out, complete and sign the Indiana Registration form VRG-7 in either English or Spanish located at www.in.gov/sos/elections/
