The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) has announced extended hours to allow Indiana residents to obtain free state issued ID for voting.
License branches will be open Monday, Nov. 1 from 8:30-8:00pm. and on Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 6:00am-6:00pm for purposes of processing ID cards and driver's licenses.
The BMV provides free, state-issued ID cards for voting purposes to any unlicensed Hoosier as long as he or she can provide proper documentation and is old enough to vote.
The following documents are required to obtain a new state ID card or driver's license:
- Proof of identity document such as birth certificate or passport.
- Proof of Social Security document such as SS card, pay stub or W-2.
- Proof of lawful status such as a birth certificate or passport.
- Proof of residency, two documents such as a voter registration card, utility bill or bank statement.
